St Joseph & the English Martyrs
New Parish Centre
Introduction
At long last the construction phase for the new combined Parish Centre for St Joseph & the English Martyrs and our Anglican cousins of St Michael's is
able to proceed.
The new centre, to be called the "Windhill Churches' Centre", is perhaps unique in the context of a new build joint parish centre between the Catholic
and Anglican Communions here in England.
This surely provides us here in Bishop's Stortford with a wonderful opportunity to foster a closer working relationship especially with the laity,
though Churches Together in Bishop's Stortford has a proven record of working together in the name of Our Lord, with energetic Clergy at the helm.
On Sunday 21st June 2009 both Parishes participated in a blessing by Canon Eddie Matthews and Canon Toby Marchand of the land upon which the new centre
would rise. The sun shone that day though it would be almost six more weeks before the final hurdle was overcome and the Construction company given the
order to proceed.

As with all build projects of this size and complexity, we must be prepared for the unexpected - Bishop's Stortford is an ancient town with Roman and
Saxon history. The project is in the good hands of experienced Project Manager and Construction teams and a daily prayer for safe progress and fair weather
will help.
