Parish Pastoral Council Committees
Parish Finance Committee
Role and responsibilities
The Parish Finance Committee (PFC) exists to support the Parish Priest in running the financial affairs of the parish successfully.
Each parish is required to have a PFC under Canon Law and its role is advisory in the sense that the Parish Priest is ultimately responsible for decisions
affecting the running of the parish. Specifically, the PFC manages income, expenditure and cashflow within the parish and recommends actions as necessary
to correct adverse trends in any of these areas, with the intention of maintaining finances in a healthy condition.
The committee usually meets quarterly and a monthly report of income and expenditure is prepared by the parish treasurer to keep members up to date
between meetings. Membership of the PFC is by invitation from the Parish Priest but there is a need from time to time for new members, either to replace
those stepping down after a period of service, or to augment the committee with particular skills.
Any parishioner wishing to be considered for membership of the PFC should contact either Canon Eddie or the current Chairman of the committee,
Bernard Judge.
Christian Formation Committee
Our Mission is to teach the Catholic faith, to build Christian character and to equip people for Christian
Service. To achieve this, we wish to help to increase our fellow parishioners' knowledge and love of their faith
by creating a suitable environment for growth in faith. We practice our faith through a Christian caring service in the
community.
We would very much welcome new members and if you are interested please do not hestitate to contact Ray Feeney on 01279 658508.
Liturgy Committee
"Liturgy" is the official public worship of the Church, and the Liturgy Committee's mission is to foster good worship in the parish by:-
- Good communication;
- Developing policies that help direct the liturgical life of the parish as a whole and provide resources, support and encouragement as needed;
- Establish on-going evaluation in order to identify and respond to issues relating to the liturgical life of the parish.
- Collaboration with other Parish groups to enhance the liturgical life of the parish eg Parish Sacramental Programs, Catechists, Schools.
If you would wish to be involved in this Committee, your talents will include an understanding of liturgy; prayerfulness and faith;
openness to formation; ability to listen to others and sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of the various and diverse groups within our community.

Maintenance Committee
The Committee inspects the Church premises and grounds four times a year and advises the PPC of any maintenance, repairs and decorating needs. Although
the parish priest makes arrangements for any improvements to be carried out; in some circumstances he may delegate this to the Maintenance Committee. We
also have to consider security issues affecting the Church itself, and Health and Safety matters.
Needless to say, we need people with expertise in buildings maintenance! If you have any expertise in buildings maintenance! If you have any experience
in looking after large buildings and would like to help, please contact Cyril Ginger on 01279 466347
Social Committee
As a community we share a common faith, but we also want to have fun, meet new people and get to know others within the Parish. We now also have a
fabulous new Parish Centre in which to achieve this.
The Social Committee seeks to promote and support the events of others and also to organise its own social events from time to time.
I am looking for parishioners who possess enthusiasm, who are willing and able to work as part of a team which will organise or support social events.
If this sounds like you, please contact Stephen Craston on 01279 320050 or email him at

Thank you
Below are the details of the Management Committees of the Windhill Churches' Centre:-
New Centre Joint Management Committee
The Windhill Churches' Centre is jointly managed by a committee comprising of equal numbers of members from St Joseph & the English Martyrs, and
St Michael's parishes. The joint Committee is chaired, by rotation, between Canon Eddie Matthews and Canon Toby Marchand.
This committee meets on a regular
basis to assess the needs of the Centre and its users, and to monitor the day-to-day maintenance of the Centre. The protocol for the running of the Centre
is set out in a "Collaboration Agreement and Management Agreement" which both parish entities have endorsed. Some aspects are affected by the conditions
of the Planning Consent granted by the East Herts District Council, and local Rights of Way.
St Joseph's Centre Management Committee
St Joseph's has its own Management Committee to oversee the day-to-day running of the St Joseph's half of the Centre, and inputs into joint/common areas
of interest (eg toilet facilities). It sets-up and revises the Terms of Use and Policy (which may be viewed on the Centre's noticeboard or requested by
post), and monitors feedback from St Joseph's users. Any such feedback for consideration by the Joint Committee should be presented initially to "The Chair,
St Joseph's Centre Management Committee" c/o No 3 Windhill.
