The Group seeks to raise awareness within the parish of social justice issues, both in the UK and worldwide, e.g. homelessness, hunger, poverty, debt, fair-trade, refugees, arms trade.
It supports and raises funds for organisations such as CAFOD, through the twice yearly Fast Day collections and soup lunches, and Christian Aid, through the annual door-to-door collection. It also runs the "Penny Collection", which aims to raise £ 1,000 each year for a worthy cause, often a small project with a parish connection. Proceeds this year will go to "Mary's Meals" which provides a daily cooked lunch for schoolchildren throughout the developing world. From time to time the group also runs other fund-raising events such as a summer lunch, coffee mornings and cake and book sales.
