The KSC exist to support the local clergy and Catholic communities in a pro-active way, and complement other Parish Groups. Established in the early 1900's, we are a Papal Order of Catholic Laymen, affiliated through an international alliance of similar organisations. The Order is open to Catholic men and potential members may attend meetings. We are not a secret society !
Our council organise and participate in activities throughout the year. In addition to monthly meetings various planning teams meet, usually on Tuesdays, and the incumbent officers of the Council meet on the second Thursday before the Council meeting.
Regular social activities include a quarterly social event out, whether a BBQ during the warmer months to which the whole family and friends are invited, or a more formal occasion or outing with our better halves - a great opportunity to relax with like-minded friends.
Most members value the opportunity to seek a closeness with our Saviour whether through Retreats, Pilgrimages or other devotional occasions. As a fraternal organisation we are there to support one another when the need arises.
In February the Westminster North Province of the KSC judged winning entries from local rounds of the Nativity Painting Competition.
The local Knights congratulate:
Matthew Parkin, Stortford (representing the 4-7 year Group)
Sarah Cullen, Enfield (representing the 8-11 year Group)
whose entries go forward to the National Round. We wish them success. Matthew and Sarah win prizes for themselves and their schools. Well done!
Other important events and causes we support throughout the year include; St. Elizabeths Home; Goodwill Children's Homes, India; CAFOD; Partners in Health; Samaritans; SPUC and other worthy causes.
We support youth events such as World Youth Day and Bright Lights, whilst locally we strive to engage young minds with their Faith through events such as the KSC National Painting Competition or in support of local youth based organisations such as school associations, scouts and guides.
